The Israeli Pavilion Awarded as Best Exterior Design

The Israeli Pavilion Awarded as Best Exterior Design

The Israeli pavilion received an Honorable Mention in the Best Exterior Design category of EXHIBITOR Magazine’s Expo 2015 Awards competition.

unnamed-1The Pavilion has been defined: “Truly spectacular!” The judges of EXHIBITOR adored it, calling it “magnificent,” “sculptural,” and “a living example of sustainability and the Expo 2015 theme.”

We are very happy and pleased to accept this important reward.

Josh Bendit, the director of the Israeli Pavilion at Expo 2015, has accepted the award with honor.

The main structure of the pavilion is a vertical field composed of modular tiles used for the cultivation of agricultural crops. Each of these tiles contains a computerized drip irrigation system to optimise the plants growth conditions. Wheat, rice and corn, which are the main sources of vegetarian food, will be grown on the vertical field creating a mosaic of textures, smells and colours. The pavilion has been built with the most advanced green technology devices including energy saving and water and air treatment. The structure is called the Fields of Tomorrow.

The entire structure is eco-friendly and can be dismantled and recycled with no effects on the environment. Fields of Tomorrow is a demonstration of Israel’s ability in many domains. Amongst those are the cultivation of rocky land, growth of vegetables in the desert, new methods of irrigation and improvement of seeds quality. Inspired by real fields, the spectacular green wall doesn’t accomplish just aesthetic functions but it introduces Vertical Planting a revolutionary technology that allows land and water resources to be spared.
