On June 25, Israel’s National Day at Expo 2015 Milan, there will be Ester Rada performing. The Israeli artist with ethiopian origins, welcoms visitors of the pavilion at sunset with an engaging concert. The music of Ester Rada is the result of a deep reflection of the Israeli born Ethiopian’s heritage.
Ester grew up in a highly religious Jewish family in more than modest conditions so this gave her the drive to change her life.
Her genre is defined as a combination of Ethio-Jazz, funk, soul and r&b, with mixed undertones of black grooves.
She is currently working to finish her debut album, after releasing her first song “Life Happens” produced by Israeli producers Kuti (Kutiman/ThruYou) and Sabbo (Soulico) in 2013.
Thanks to that song, the world discovered the potential of this singer, songwriter, performer.
She joined tours in the Us, Canada, and Europe, and most recently the highly respected Glastonbury Festival.
She also warmed up for Alicia Keys at her Israel concert, in front of 8500 people.
Her strongest influences are strong women like Nina Simone and Ella Fitzgerald, a vocal range like Aretha Frankli. However, she also really appreciates Eryka Badu, Lauryn Hill, and Jill Scott.
