Musical and acrobatic performances with brass and percussions bands, a glamorous and eclectic soul & funk concert that reflects the country multiethnic spirit, but also a dj set that spices up the sunset. Israel Pavilion celebrates its National Day in Milan Expo with a true and genuine party and a rich program of events opened to the public that underline the friendship between Italy and Israel and their people.
At 11.30 at Expo Center Tzipi Hotovely, Vice Minister of Foreign Affairs of Israel and Benedetto Della Vedova, Undersecretary at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy, inaugurate Israel National Day in Milan Expo 2015. This formal meeting seals the strong relationship between two countries that are united by common perspectives in many fields, starting from the research and development of cutting edge technologies for a better planet and a sustainable future.
To follow, Israel Pavilion hosts a day-long big party and brings to Expo the energy that young people from all over the world seek on Tel Aviv beaches. The explosive charge of brass and percussions by Circle of Drummers and Horns invade the decumano.
At 17.00 and 20.45, Sheketak liven up the pavilion’s entrance with dance-shows, music and acrobatic moves.
Throughout the day visitors will notice the Pavilion all dressed up for the party featuring djsets and street artists but also jugglers and clowns for the kids.
When the sun sets glamorous singer Ester Rada takes the stage with her eclectic style.
The artist welcomes the visitors with a concert that blends funk-soul sounds with world music linked to her Ethiopian and Israeli origins.
After the concert from 21.30, a dj set turns the decumano into a dance floor with stunning visuals like in Tel Aviv best clubs.
Elazar Cohen, General Commissioner of Israel Pavilion invite the visitors: “On the occasion of our National Day we are happy to bring to Expo a rich program opened to the public all-day-long. The Israeli artists that will take the stage represent at the best the country’s spirit: young,
enterprising, curious e able to transform creativity in optimistic and forward-thinking energy.
A festive day that reflects the pavilion’s identity as well”.
Circle of Drummers and Horns is an ensemble of musicians that travels in conflict zones and international events all over the planet to bring messages of peace and happiness. “Israeli rythm is like a heartbeat that start from Jerusalem to unite men and women from all over the world. Our project is a work of “joint harmony” that delivers a universal message of hope and joy”.
Sheketak is a band of musicians, dancers and acrobats from Israel that go on show worldwide with scenographic choreographies interacting with the public. In Expo they take the stage on several occasiona during the National Day in front of Israel Pavilion.
Ester Rada is a 30 years old Israeli artist who blends funk and soul with Israeli folk and the musical imprint of her Ethiopian origins. Soul power womens like Nina Simone, Ella Fitzgerald, Aretha Franklin but also Lauryn Hills, Jill Scott and and Erykah Badu are her inspiration. So far Ester performed at international and influential events and festival like Glastonbury, opened Alicia Keys’ concerts and is back from a successful tour in USA and Canada. After the enthusiast response of the critic and her first single Life Happens, the singer is about to launch her first album.
