Create a problem-solving-by-design process.
A multi-disciplinary design solutions variety, consisting of:
Branding and marketing communication
25 Students from 3 countries (Italy, Germany, and Israel), 4 institutions, different design disciplines:
Graphic & Visual Communication Design
Commercial Space / Interior Design
Product / Industrial Design
Interactive (Web And Applications)
#WAY OF WORKING:
5-6 work groups (4 or 5 students each)
Each group will generate 3 ideas, from which 1 will be distilled.
Each day proceeding design process, mentoring & guest designers, end of day evening
all groups will present progress for guidance.
All students receive the brief before starting their trip, 3 days before the workshop.
The subject to explore is: DESIGN SOLUTIONS FOR FOOD ON THE MOVE.
PHASES: Packing / packaging, presenting & branding, advertising, purchasing, preparing, carrying,
consuming / using, disposing.
Record, take notes, take photos, sketch on the spot. Bring notebooks to the workshop.
Places: my room, beach / park / stadium / concert hall / movies, work place, school, train, street food,
airport, airplane, hotel, temporary apartment / room, kitchen, supermarket, restaurant, central station,
office, car, bus, meeting hall, lobby etc.
Explore the behaviours, relating to food, of myself and others: vendors, users, children, old people etc.
• Situations of discomfort, that need design solutions.
• Unfulfilled needs
Relate to 6 P’s: Product, People, Price, Place, Promotion, Performance
Sketches, models, PDF presentations.
Guest specialist designers, Professors of the different Design fields from the 4 academic institutions
in the 3 countries.

Monday June 29th :
10:00 – 10:30 – Gathering.
10:30 – 11:15 – name tags and acquaintance games.
11:15 – 11:30 – Panel introduction
11:30 – 13:00 – Brief Presentation. Time table explanation
13:00 – 14:00 – Lunch break
14:00 – 16:15 – Groups forming. Work in groups: sharing of personal observations, problems and
opportunities. No elimination.

17:00 Official opening of Tiltan’s exhibition andInternational Workshop. Cocktail party.
Tuesday June 30th – Thursday July 2ndth :
10:00 – 18:00 – working in groups with professors’ mentoring, overall discussions, expert guests’ lectures,
day summaries. *reduction to 3 opportunities of design solutions, prepare quick presentations.
*presentation to teachers and colleagues, instructions for next day.
Friday July 3rd:
10:00 – 12:00 Preparing final presentations.
